Here at superstructure we are responsible for the enclosure of the Toboggan. We design and make a metal roll cage combined with either paneling or netting to protect our riders from potential impacts.

We work closely with the steering, braking and electrical sub teams to ensure seamless integration and proper functioning of all the systems on the Toboggan. Additionally we work with our spirit/tech-ex team to create an aesthetically pleasing Toboggan design.

We use the SolidWorks Weldments package and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to design and simulate our Toboggan's safety. At competition, our structure must pass a series of physical and analytical safety tests. To manufacture, we use a variety of tools including miter saws, angle grinders and water jet cutters.

For GNCTR 2026 we will be using a new lightweight aluminum alloy for our roll cage and composite paneling to protect our riders.
