Ski Design is one of the most technical and creative sub-teams, playing a key role in the performance of the concrete toboggan. We design, model, and build the skis and ski molds for the toboggan. Think of us as the “wheels” of the sled. We 3D model the skis in SolidWorks, and perform simulations applying principles of aerodynamics, force distribution, and safety. To build our design, we use 3D Printing, Waterjet Cutting, various hand tools, and more.

We’re also design and select the reinforcement materials that go into the concrete mix, sometimes using Ansys simulations to guide our decisions. In 2026, we are trying to use Bamboo as reinforcement!

Lastly, we collaborate closely with the Mix team in our design and participate in Pouring day, the final pour of concrete into our ski molds.
